Introducing Document Upload And Employee Attributes

We’ve been busy here at Shiftie HQ and are excited to announce not one, but two brand new features to make your life easier!

First up, document uploads. We don’t know about you, but we can’t count the hours we’ve spent sending new policies to team members and then chasing them to find out whether they’ve received them, whether they’ve read them, why they haven’t read them, why they hate us … Frankly, it’s exhausting.

Thankfully, our new Documents functionality is designed to make that process a little bit easier; it allows you to upload a document and choose whether it should be visible to the whole team, employees who do specific jobs, or certain individuals. Then you can set a date that they need to read it by and watch the ‘Read By’ total go up. Your team will receive notifications letting them know about the document and a reminder will sit on their dashboard, irritating them until they give in and read the file as requested.

You’ll be able to store documents for individual employees, too. Review forms, personal records, contracts; upload them and assign them to the right user, ready for them to access at will.

Our favourite element of it, though? New employees will automatically be assigned any documents that are relevant to the whole company. No more stressing because you’ve forgotten to send your company handbook to the new starter; as soon as they sign up to Shiftie it’ll be assigned to them and ready to download.

Not your thing? Employee attribute tagging might be more up your street. This feature means that you can create custom attributes, be they ‘First Aid Qualified’, ‘Speaks French’, or something completely off the wall like ‘Likes Cashews’, then assign them to employees.

But it doesn’t stop there! (Which is just as well really, it wouldn’t be much of a feature.) Once you’ve tagged your employees you can filter the schedule to see who has which attributes. Need to make sure that you have at least one person who can administer first aid on each shift? Easy. Have a tour booking from a group who only speak French? You got it. Need to find someone to… Uh… Eat a lot of cashews? Weird, but you can do it. Once you’ve found the applicable employees you can create shifts for them to make sure that you’ve always got the right team for the job.

We hope you’re as excited about the new features as we are. If you already have a Shiftie account then you’ll access the new features in your settings menu now. Not got an account yet? Sign up for our 28-day free trial and let us know what you think!
